Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are a critical part of the international development community. Working across the developing world, NGOs provide capacity building and essential services in the areas of health, nutrition, food, civil rights, democracy and host of other program areas. Attracting the right talent and retaining the best resources are critical to the mission of these organizations.
Commercial development organizations are an important part of the international development community as well. As implementing agencies for governments through agencies such as USAID, DfID, DFAT Australia and others, these companies face many of the same challenges as their non-profit peers.
Birches Group is a leader in working with the NGO and development community.
We conduct the NGO Local Pay Surveys and the NGO Global Pay Survey, in cooperation with the CHS Alliance. These surveys provide the NGO community with the most comprehensive and robust market data available, tailored to the specific needs of the organizations.
We work with over 55 international NGOs as Sustaining Partners — organizations that have committed to annual participation in the NGO Local Pay surveys for multiple years in at least 10 countries. These organizations form the core of our NGO surveys, which will cover over 80 countries each year.
Assisting organizations in managing compensation is another way we work with NGOs. We provide scale design and ongoing maintenance as co-sourcing partners to several organizations, as well as scale design services and consulting to many others across five continents. Our job evaluation services are utilized by many NGOs, coupled with our survey data to ease market comparisons. We have also completed projects in areas such as compensation policy and expatriate compensation.
