Capturing these relationships to create a powerful sense of individual contribution which builds the success of the team is the approach taken by Birches Group in its organizational development practice.

Our view is that the contribution of every staff member across the organization must be clearly understood and celebrated. Only when value and purpose is attached to all can a team perform at its best. Fundamental to the philosophy of the Birches Group Community™ job evaluation system is the identification and acknowlegement of contribution at each and every level, in each and every corner of an organization.

Working with many organizations, we have developed methodologies for shaping organization identity through harnessing the perspectives of staff and reflecting these perspectives back as a tailored and highly refined mirror. We recognize that it is a primary human instinct to know that one’s contribution is valued. Our approach seeks to ensure that the value of each position is simply understood both individually and in the context of the overall organization.

Birches Group consulting on organization and job design encompasses a full range of services including:

  • Development of dedicated grade structures and accompanying evaluation systems;
  • Development of occupational and job profiles highlighting key roles across the organization;
  • Assessment of current office structures and development of new structural models;
  • Assessment of individual jobs through comprehensive department and organization wide job evaluation projects.

Birches Group has worked extensively with staff and management groups to ensure a broad participatory approach in organization and job design projects. This builds not only the accuracy of our work but its credibility and ownership with the key organizational stakeholders.
